Waitress at 'The Haven' Family. David Fererra (Adopted Father) Mutation. Evelyn has the ability to transform her body into a translucent liquid, making it impervious to physical harm. She can manipulate herself in this form just about any way she likes, if she can maintain control. When she gets very nervous or scared she often liquefies against her will, and sometimes, when turning from a liquid to a solid, her clothes don't always make the transition. She can't return to solid form unless all of her liquefied parts are close together. While in liquefied form she doesn't need to breathe, and any physical damage she sustained while in solid form is instantly nullified in between changes, as her form resets itself each time. Currently she's working on stabilizing her powers and controlling her density while changed. Evelyn also has the ability to manipulate different amounts of liquid (water being the easiest), depending on how much she can concentrate on it, and how often she practices. Thus far she's only been successful in controlling about a medium-sized, above ground pool's worth. This power also tends to go a little awry in moments of panic or surprise.  Personality. Evy is a bit of a goof, somewhat flighty seeming, and always friendly. She's not above playful banter in any situation, which often gains her a few suitors among customers. Her easygoing and magnetic nature tend to draw in a regular crowd of patrons who request her specifically during each visit to the club. She has a tendency to be a bit sarcastic or a tease, and she laughs and smiles easily. One thing Evy isn't particularly secure with are her powers, unsure of what to do with them aside from trying to get by as best as possible. Even since high school, with her powers still on the fritz, many of the friends she's had over the years have left her, leaving her increasingly lonely. She tries to hide it, especially from her "father", wanting him, most of all, to see her as just a normal girl. Her temper tends to flair almost violently at times, a side effect of the inability to control her powers. Frustration and anger, both with herself and the ignorant people that torment her each day take it's toll, and she's been known to do unintentional harm. She tends to keep "mutant" company over normal humans, as she's come to realize that she's more easily accepted with the former. She's often paranoid about having to interact with normal people, not wanting to embarrass herself or cause trouble without meaning to.  History. Ev recalls very little of her childhood and from what little she does recall thinks it's better that way. From the time she was five, she remembers moving from town to town with her mother, never settling down, never understanding why they couldn't stay in the same place for more than a few months. Familiarity was nonexistent, friends were scarce, as anything she grew attached to was merely taken away during the next move. She disliked it, but her mother always swore to her that it was the best thing for everyone, and that as long as they were simply together things would be fine. When Evy was ten, they'd begun to stay at what was apparently an old friend of her mother's abode. The living situation lasted longer than many of those previously, and little Evelyn hoped that maybe they would finally have a place to call home. One evening, her mother left with a gentleman she'd never seen before, promising to return the next morning. Evelyn waited, unaccustomed to being separated from her mother, and though she waited night after night, her mother never returned. The woman she was left with had four children of her own, and after a month of caring for the child, she moved out of the city, leaving Evelyn behind in the care of a well-respected friend of hers. The man wasn't completely unfamiliar, as he was someone her own mother had gone to several times for help. While he hadn't seen Evelyn since she and her mother disappeared three years before, he still took her in and cared for her, considering her his daughter. As such, she grew up fairly happy and well-adjusted considering what she'd been through. Evelyn discovered she had powers when she was seventeen, at seemingly the most convenient time possible. During a car accident with a few friends, her body liquefied, leaving her the only one in the car unharmed. For a time she was deathly afraid of what she thought she would become, her only experience with mutantkind being what she heard on the television. After her abilities surfaced, her father finally admitted that the reason her mother fled so much was because she too was a mutant, but had no idea what to do with her abilities, letting them consume her with fear until running from the only things she'd known seemed like the only right thing to do. Evelyn attempted to live a life as normal as possible in her high school, and her job at a local coffee shop, but found it difficult considering the entire school population realized what she was after news of the accident surfaced. Many of the students tormented her relentlessly, and often the faculty would shun her for no apparent reason. After high school, it took several years before Evelyn felt secure enough to attempt college. She moved out of her father's house and into a small apartment in the city, continuing to work at the coffee shop. After her 21st birthday, she quit her old job and began working as a waitress at the popular mutant club "The Haven" and has been working there since. In the fall of 2006 she began taking day classes at a local university while continuing to work at night. | |||||||||
